The Barker Playhouse is in mostly a residential neighborhood, and we do not have a parking lot. However, there is usually plenty of on-street parking on Benefit, or nearby South Main, Transit, or Arnold Streets to accommodate our patrons.
The South Main Street parking is metered and requires you to walk up the hill.
We suggest leaving a bit of time to find a space.

Classes and workshops organized by the Green Room are open to the public.
Classes normally carry a cost, which is discounted for members of The Players. Other Green Room offerings are also open to the public at no cost, although they do appreciate donations!

Our auditions are open to all. We post auditions on our website, Facebook, and Instagram pages, as well as several other local sites when audition dates for upcoming shows are set. Members are also notified via email.
While reservations are not required, we do supply an online form to collect and provide information in advance, making the onsite process more efficient for our Production Committee and actors who audition.
If a non-member is offered and accepts a role, we do require them to become a Full or Artist* member.
*The Players' Artist Membership is available to cast and production staff working on a Players production. This an opportunity to play for free at The Players—zero financial commitment. Although Artist Members do not get season tickets as provided in a Full Membership, they will receive a comp ticket for each production on which they work, as well as invitations to Players' parties and Green Room events on the same basis as full members, and the opportunity to serve on Players’ committees.
The Artist Membership is renewable each season, and Artist Members are welcome to change to a Full Membership at any time.

The Players offers full-length productions on our 100-seat Main Stage theater, with direct entrance from Benefit Street. Our regular season is generally comprised of four plays and one musical. In addition, we offer Benefit performances for purchase by outside groups for each show. Periodically, we will also host fund-raisers, parties, and other events in this space.
Our Green Room stage and space is located on our lower level with direct access via Transit Street. This versatile space is host to classes, workshops, meetings, and special artistic events. It also serves as a performance space for cabarets, shorter plays, new original works, lectures, movies, and parties. Our dressing rooms, mini kitchen, and library are adjacent.
-
Yes, we occasionally have shows where children play a role. Parents are encouraged to be at the auditions and rehearsals.
Membership is offered at a reduced price for students/children.
-
When the weather turns colder, it won’t be too long before we see snowflakes flying.
If a parking ban is called for Providence, then all shows or activities are canceled.
You can contact the box office to re-schedule your seat reservation if applicable.
In some instances, we will add an extra performance to make up for the cancellation. If it is a one-off event – like a Green Room performance – keep an eye out for a snow date.
-
The Players, in partnership with the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA), are gratified to offer physically accessible entrances from both Benefit and Transit Streets. And accessible restrooms in both our upper and lower levels.
We also offer audio assist sets for every performance.
